Join us for our annual conference.  Elizabeth Wente, Employment Lawyer for Spencer-Fane law group, will be presenting on a “Takin’ Care of Business: How HR Professionals and Managers Can Prevent and Defeat Employment Litigation”

This seminar will include three sessions focusing on best practices for both human resources professionals and those that manager or supervise within the company. In the first session, we will discuss best practices for interviewing applicants, documenting the selection of candidates, and successfully onboarding new employees. The second session will focus on creating documentation to support corrective action and using corrective action to affect change and put the company in the best defensible position.  Finally, the third session will focus on how management/executive teams (including Human Resources) can work together to identify challenges to the culture in their workplaces (such as generational differences, remote work, and turnover) and strategies to address those challenges. The sessions will include interactive elements to allow attendees to brainstorm with each other and discuss how to apply the best practices in their workplaces.  Teams who participate in the sessions together (such as HR professionals, owners, managers and/or supervisors) will also have the opportunity work together to develop specific action items to implement in their organizations.

Elizabeth collaborates with employers to (1) develop a culture aimed at preventing employee issues; (2) address employee issues in a manner that will reduce the potential for employment-related litigation; and (3) implement practices and policies that will put employers in the best defensible position if they do encounter employment-related litigation. She focuses her practice on five primary areas:  Assisting employer with preparing and implementing soud practices, procedures, and ageements, conducting employee training, advising HR Represenatives on day-to-day situations, conducting audits and investigations, and managing litagation.
